About the artist:
Having lived in Ghana for 15 years, Jordan developed a taste for music of all cultures from a young age. An eclectic performer with a culturally diverse program, Jordan is an active soloist, avid chamber musician, and proponent for the historical music of the West African griot. With a desire to positively influence lives through music, Jordan has made it his personal goal to use music as a vehicle for global change. It was this desire that led him to create the Ghana National Music Festival – an institute dedicated to promoting education through music and fostering collaboration between Ghanaian and American Musicians. The first classical music institute of its kind in Ghana, the GNMF is sparking the flames of a music revolution that is leaving a lasting impact both in Ghana and the USA.
A scholar of world music, Jordan’s current projects revolve around the music of West Africa. He dedicates his time to understanding the music and cultures of the West African Griot tradition. Specifically, his research focuses on the performance practices of the Kora and Seperewa musicians. This research has led him to actively pursue a series of field recordings highlighting the unique beauty these traditions offer.
Through all his work, Jordan considers it his sole responsibility to use music as a vehicle for change and seeks to become a global ambassador for change through music.
